Before and After Face Pilates

Before and after 3.5 years of Face Pilates! The first photo is from December 2020. She took a couple private lessons in Face Pilates and then owns less than $40 worth of tools—a simple Gua Sha stone and a face vibrator. She practices 2-3x/week for 5-10 minutes doing exercise, self massage, Gua Sha and vibration. The second photo is from August 2024. Consistency and commitment really pays off! She also incorporates the information in our blog posts around sun, circadian rhythms, and earthing.

Introductory Face Pilates

Our Intro Face Pilates course is now available on demand. You can take this course in the comfort of your own home at any time and any pace that works for you.

The course includes unlimited access to videos of twelve lessons, varying in length from 20-45 minutes each. The lessons cover face exercise, neck exercise, massage with hands, intra-oral massage, resting facial and oral posture, acupressure points, and Gua Sha. You’ll also receive a handout summarizing the content of each lesson.

This course is all about self care! With the tools we teach, you’ll learn about the patterns in your face and jaw, how to engage muscles you want to use and relax ones you don’t, how to release chronic tension, and how to get more in tune with your face so that you can have better resting facial and oral posture. People who have taken this Intro course find it helps with jaw pain, jaw clenching, headaches, migraines, neck pain, sleep, vertigo, and loss of sensation in the face due to nerve damage from Bells Palsy or surgery. Many of them also see visible changes to their faces.

As an added bonus, you’ll also get access to our additional resources, which includes book recommendations, dietary recommendations, practice videos, discounts on our favorite Gua Sha tools, and more.

Before and After 2-3 months

Before and after one year

Consistent practice makes a difference. Here is before and after one year of Face Pilates. She practiced five minutes/day 4-5x/week. That’s only 20-25 minutes a week and look at how much her eyes and cheeks lifted.

WHAT CLIENTS SAY

Reviews

I love the aesthetic benefits of Face Pilates but I also really love the meditative nature of it. I think I carry a lot of tension in my face and after class I feel like I’ve taken a nap or had a massage. It feels very therapeutic.

I've been LOVING this program. I am only through 1/3 of the lessons because I have been savoring the first few videos. They are rich with information. I see and feel such a difference in my face, my sinuses are free and clear and my eyes don't feel as dry. These exercises/massage techniques are so great after spending so many more hours on the computer. Thank you for creating this!!!!

I've noticed so many positive impacts from practicing face exercises regularly. My jaw is more relaxed, and my headaches are less often and less severe. I'm so grateful for all the newfound awareness I have for my facial muscles and posture. It's helped me relax and not carry so much stress and tension in my face and neck. This course has really been a game changer for me!

I've taken the Intro Face Pilates course with Sophia twice--I love it so much! Sophia is the best Pilates instructor/all around teacher I ever had. If only I lived in Denver, I would take every class she teaches. She is so knowledgeable about human physiology, and how all our systems work together, and this gives so much depth to the practice she teaches. Her instructions are easy to understand and her energy is warm and positive. I can feel her caring, support and enthusiastic, encouragement through my computer screen. Face Pilates is particularly helpful if you suffer from jaw/neck tension, stress headaches; and if that tension manifests visually as wrinkles or asymmetries on your face, it addresses those too. Since taking the class, I've learned how to help myself in all these areas. I can't recommend this class more highly.

Facial Pilates has transformed the way that I think about my head and neck as part of my whole body. There is this convergence of experiences - activating specific muscles, focusing on intentional breath, opening your mind, and relaxing other parts of your body - that have made facial pilates an integral part of my whole health.

I became aware of my resting face posture and how much I furrow my brow throughout a day. I love how my mind, body and spirit feel lifted after practicing face Pilates with good breathing and massage. This class challenged my mind and my tiny face muscles.

My face feels firmer and fuller, as if collagen was injected into my cheeks. My mouth is now bigger and more flexible - when I brush my teeth I can reach all the way in the back. My dentist used to complain that I didn't brush enough in the back of my mouth because I couldn't reach, my mouth didn't open enough - not a problem now! I also do acupressure points every evening and my sleep has really improved. I've noticed that when I skip Face Pilates and acupressure points, I have a much harder time falling asleep. I think Face Pilates has stress relief and calming benefits.

I’ve really enjoyed the classes. The exercises made me aware of a part of my body that I use all of the time but never paid much attention to. I loved exploring and learning about the various muscles and feeling them get stronger. I am much more aware of expressions during the day and feel like I have tools now to “tackle” my headaches when they start up. I haven’t had any major dizzy spells since starting the class. I am looking forward to continuing to add this to my daily routine and see where it takes me.

Online Lessons

Face Pilates continues to evolve and we now offer Face Pilates Online Lessons covering new techniques. Each lesson covers one concept and costs $12 for unlimited access. Buy an Online Lesson, then email Sophia with your requested lesson and she’ll send it to you.

Skin Rolling - This technique is designed to support the health of cranial nerves, and in particular the Trigeminal Nerve that is implicated in pain like migraines. Learn where the nerve is located and how skin rolling can support good functioning of the nerve. This technique also helps address the fascia of the face, is very relaxing, and improves circulation to the skin, leading to noticeable changes to your skin tone and texture.

Face Brushing - A typical body brush is too big for the face, but other tools like a toothbrush can work well as a face brush. Face brushing is a great way to stimulate lymphatic flow, especially when you know where the lymph nodes are located and the best order to brush them in. This will help you remove waste from your face, head, neck, and brain, and improve circulation to your tissues.

Face Cupping - Learn how to stimulate lymphatic flow on the chest, neck and face with a face cup. This video uses a #3 Lure Essential cup. While Gua Sha compresses the tissues, the cup suctions them out, providing a unique experience for your face. You’ll also need a good quality face oil to help the cup slide.

Bone Building - Our bones are the foundation of our face and like all bones in the body, they tend to thin with age. But bones are constantly remodeling in response to the forces they experience, so if you stimulate them properly, they'll stay dense and provide the muscles, connective tissues and fat pads of the face a good place to attach and stay lifted. In this lesson, we'll learn how to stimulate the bones with our hands, with a vibrational tool, and the most potent exercises for bone building.

While we no longer offer group classes, Sophia is available to teach Face Pilates in private lessons. Email sophia@kinesispilatesdenver.com to inquire.
